Children’s Ministry Update!

Dear UBC Parents and Caregivers,

I hope you’re doing well!

I’m writing with an update regarding our Children’s Ministry. First, I extend my thanks to you! It is an honor and distinct privilege to partner with you in the sacred work of stewarding the faith formation of your children. You entrust our ministry with some of your most precious gifts, and I do not take that trust lightly. Your presence, encouragement, and commitment to your children’s spiritual lives make the work of this ministry possible, and I am deeply grateful. Serving our UBC families is one of my greatest joys!

As our Children’s Church continues to rapidly grow, we are entering an exciting season of transition! With that growth comes the opportunity to update our systems so that we can continue caring for our children with the same excellence, intention, and faithfulness.

Beginning Second Sunday, we will be launching a new check-in and dismissal system for Children’s Church. This update is designed to support safety, clarity, and smooth transitions for families, children, and staff/volunteers. More details and clear instructions will be shared with you soon, and we will walk alongside you as this new system rolls out.

I am also delighted to share that we have welcomed new teachers to our Children’s Ministry team. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and for the gifts they bring to our community. As a result, children will now be grouped in age-based classes during Children’s Church:

Ages 4–6
Ages 7–9
Ages 10–12

This shift allows us to better meet children where they are developmentally and spiritually, ensuring that each child can engage Scripture, conversation, and activities in ways that are meaningful and accessible.

All of these changes are signs of growth and signs of God’s movement among us. I am excited about what is unfolding in our Children’s Ministry and about all that is still to come. Thank you for growing with us, for your patience as we implement new systems, for your prayers, and for your continued partnership in nurturing a community where our children can learn, grow, belong, serve, and flourish in Christ.

Grace and Peace!

Warmest regards,

Rev. Ashley

Celebrating 30 Years of the UBC Jail Ministry

August 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of our Jail Ministry. What began as an outreach ministry to share God’s word with men and women at the Durham County Jail and has expanded to include service to the Orange County Correctional Center in Hillsborough.

For three decades, this dedicated team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to bring hope, healing, and transformation to the lives of those in correctional facilities. Their unwavering support has made a profound impact on countless lives.
