Prince Raney Rivers, Senior Pastor

Reverend Prince Raney Rivers has served as our senior pastor since 2017. He is passionate about preaching, teaching, discipleship, leadership, and mentoring. He delivers powerful sermons each week to help transform us spiritually and empower us to transform those in our community.

Pastor Rivers currently serves as the 3rd Vice President of the General Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, Inc. and he is a member of the board of trustees for Wake Forest University. He has previously served as a board member for The Baptist House at Duke Divinity School.

He has delivered lectures and sermons in congregations, for denominations, and at colleges and universities around the country and abroad. He is the author of numerous articles, essays and two book chapters on pastoral ministry. Pastor Rivers book, John, was published in 2019 and it features over twenty sermons preached from the Gospel of John (Smyth & Helwys Press). In 2015, Rivers was invited to Duke Divinity School to deliver the “State of the Black Church” address for Gardner C. Taylor Lecture Series.

Pastor Rivers received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Morehouse College, where he was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He earned Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School and completed the Harvard Divinity School Summer Leadership Institute. He has been a fellow of the Pastor-Theologian Program at Princeton Theological Seminary. Currently, he is a doctoral student in Leadership Studies at North Carolina A & T University.

He and his wife, Dr. Monica Corbitt Rivers, are the parents of two wonderful children.
