Their mission is fulfilled through times of biblical instruction, education, promoting self-care, fellowship, conferences, and service to the community. WOS aims to be broad in their appeal and holistic in their approach to address the complexities of women's lives. Activities are open to women 18 and over.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a program of Union Baptist that equips lay persons to provide distinctively Christian one-to-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances, both in our congregation and community. Established in 1975 by Rev. Kenneth Haugk, also a clinical psychologist, the program meets the needs of people in over 30,000 churches internationally. If you are interested in receiving such care, contact our Referral Coordinator, Kim Nichols, at 638-2260. All voice mails will be handled confidentially.

Counseling vs. Stephen Ministry

While counseling is available to our disciples, we find that many individuals are well-suited for Stephen Ministry. Here are a few considerations that may suggest Stephen Ministry as a suitable option:

  • Mild to moderate mental health concerns.
  • A crisis that primarily involves you, not family members.
  • Desire for greater flexibility in appointments; Stephen Ministers often meet care receivers in the community at mutually convenient times during the week or weekend.

Alternatively, the following circumstances may suggest that counseling is the preferable option:

  • More intense mental health concerns.
  • Marital or family issues.
  • History of severe or persistent mental illness (e.g., bipolar disorder).
  • Long-term challenges with trauma

Samaritan Men's Ministry

Contact: Larry Robinson

The Samaritan Men's Ministry works to promote Christian growth, fellowship and service among the men of the church and community. They have a commitment to being role models for the male youth in our congregation and neighborhood. They also provide invaluable assistance to our senior citizens, witness in the immediate area, and represent the church in community parades. Men ages 18 and older are welcome to participate in their weekly time of fellowship.
